Installing PuTTY on a Mac is relatively easy, but there are several steps that you’d need to complete. Before you can install PuTTY, however, you’ll first need Xcode, Xcode Command Line Tools, and MacPorts. To install PuTTY on Mac, you will need to do it through the Terminal app on your Mac, by entering and executing a command that will automatically install PuTTY. cp /opt/local/bin/putty ~/Desktop/PuTTY.This will complete the PuTTY installation, but we also recommend creating a PuTTY shortcut: copy the following command and execute it in the Terminal and a shortcut for PuTTY will be created on your Mac’s Desktop:.You must now type Y in the Terminal and press Enter to continue.Next, enter the sudo port install putty command in the Terminal, and execute the command – once again, your password will be required. After that, go back to the Terminal, enter this command sudo port -v selfupdate, and press the Enter key to execute it (you will likely need to enter your password again). Now click here, download the XQuartz.dmg file on the page that opens, open the downloaded file, and complete the prompts to install XQuartz.Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen prompts to install MacPorts.Next, you need to download MacPorts: go to this link and click the macOS version you are using at the moment, and download the file. After that, scroll down to the end of the license agreement, type “ Agree”, and hit the Enter key to accept the license agreement.Next, click Enter once more – this will show you the license agreement for the Xcode tools. If required, enter your Admin password – you won’t see anything being typed, but this is because the symbols are hidden, so type the password anyway and hit Enter again. Next, go to Applications > Utilities, open the Terminal app, copy-paste in the Terminal the following command, and hit Enter to execute it.
